Current Industry Challenges
- Unsustainable – Requires the consumption of local water resources, directly impacting farming and local fresh water supply. Evaporation ponds systems pollute groundwater, water and air.
- Inefficient – Only 40-50% Lithium is captured using the evaporation pond method. Delayed time to market (18-24 months). Expensive chemicals and reagents are used.
- Excessive Water Consumption – Current systems and proposed DLE solutions require a significant amount of pure water for processing. 24.6 Trillion liters of potable water was consumed in 2021 for the EV car batteries alone. This equals the ANNUAL water fresh consumption of a city with a population of 374,000 people.
- Commercialization and Scalability – DLE proposals are not commercialized nor scalable. DLE systems require large amounts of material consumables or toxic inputs and have expensive downtime for maintenance.
Where They Are Headed
L1X is positioned for exponential growth. They are going to become the leading (perhaps only) global provider of Clean Sourced Lithium™. The goal is to produce 500,000 tones ($10B USD) of Clean Sourced Lithium™ within 5 years after launching their lithium mine in Argentina and by supplying some of the current largest lithium producers in the world.
Two key drivers for L1X’s growth will be the social demand for Clean Tech Solutions, as the new and existing lithium mines are under environmental pressure from governments, NGOs and consumer demand for clean energy and global awareness for a healthier planet. In addition, the Lithium demand is predicted to grow at least by 20% per year.

Unique Advantages of L1X
- Sustainable
Zero external water consumption and delivers Ultra-Pure-Water (UPW) that can be reused for ongoing mining, re-injection, or sold. Fully contained clean-tech system with no air, land or water pollution and no hazardous waste material.
- Efficient
Uses $100 of energy per tonne of lithium compared to $20,000/t using thermal evaporation. Low energy consumption for the entire L1X facility. Lower OpEx and lower CapEx automated, contained processes, have low staff requirements.
